Femtosecond laser micro-drilling stands out by its accuracy and minimum heat affected zone. The process is applicable to a wide variety of materials, including different metals, ceramics, polymers, and glass. The ablation speed and the taper of the hole depend mostly on material thickness and hole diameter. For example, ablation speed – up to one hole of 30 µm in diameter and 18 µm out diameter in 50 ms. Femtosecond laser micro-drilled holes are required for filters, nozzles and many different tools.
